Albert enlisted at Bexley Heath with the London Regiment, 2nd (City of London) Battalion. He served in the Western European Theatre of War, France and Flanders.  He died in England of wounds on 5.9.1917 and is buried in the Chislehurst Cemetery, Kent.

Albert was awarded the Victory Medal and the British War Medal.
