Conveyance
of
Freehold land situate at Ashwell in the County of Hertford
This Conveyance is made the fourteenth day of September On thousand nine hundred and fifty seven BETWEEN FRIENDS TRUSTS LIMITED whose Registered Office is situate at Friends House Euston Road in the County of London (hereinafter called “the Vendors”) of the one part and CHRISTINE ANGELL of Whitby Farm Ashwell in the County of Hertford (hereinafter called “the Purchaser”) of the other part
WHEREAS:-
- The Vendors are seised of (inter alia) the property hereinafter described as Trustees of the Charity known as Hertford and Hitchin Monthly Meeting of the Society of Friends
- The Vendors as such Trustees have agreed with the Purchaser for the sale to her of the said property in fee simple in possession subject only to the restrictions and stipulations hereinafter mentioned at the price of Thirty five pounds
- By an Order made by the Board of Charity Commissioners for England and Wales on the twenty first day of June On thousand nine hundred and fifty seven the Vendors were authorised to sell the said property within twelve months from the date of the said Order for not less than the said price
NOW THIS DEED WITNESSETH as follows:-
- In consideration of the sum of THIRTY FIVE POUNDS paid by the Purchaser to the Vendors (the receipt whereof the Vendors hereby acknowledge) the Vendors as Trustees hereby convey unto the Purchaser ALL THAT plot of land situate at Ashwell in the County of Hertford containing eight hundred and nine square yards or thereabouts formerly used as a Burial Ground by the Society of Friends WHICH said plot of land is for the purpose of identification only more particularly delineated on the plan annexed hereto and thereon coloured red TO HOLD the same unto the Purchaser in fee simple subject to all statutory restrictions affecting the user of a Burial Ground and to the condition that any graves therein shall not be disturbed except under competent authority and subject also as in hereinafter mentioned
- The Purchaser hereby covenants with the Vendors that she and her successors in title will hereafter keep open and unbuilt upon such part of the land hereby conveyed as has heretofore been used as a burial ground and also that she and her successors in title will allow any person who is a relative or friend of any person interred in the said Burial Ground to have admittance thereto at all convenient times
- The Vendors hereby acknowledge the right of the Purchaser to the production of the documents specified in the Schedule hereto and to the delivery of copies thereof
- It is hereby certified that the transaction hereby effected does not form part of a larger transaction or of a series of transactions in respect of which the amount or value or the aggregate amount or value of the consideration exceeds Three thousand five hundred pounds
IN WITNESS whereof the Vendors have caused their Common Seal to be hereunto affixed and the Purchaser has hereunto set her hand and seal the day and year first before written

Weelwright and Quaker, disowned by Quakers as married Elisabeth Rowling a non-Quaker in Parish Church, Ashwell 21st Sep 1783.
2 children – Abraham and Elisabeth born.
After Abraham’s death his wife remarried William Heath; when he died she married for third time William’s son-in-law William Worboys, a widower with 3 sons.
Elisabeth Worboys buried in QBG Ashwell, also first husband Abraham.
Son Abraham died, aged 27, unmarried and left his sister Elisabeth main beneficiary. He was a farmer of Ashwell End owning tenements, farms and land in Ashwell and Hinxworth. Elisabeth was married to Benjamin Christy, Farmer of Westbury, Ashwell.
