David enlisted on 18th September 1914.  Nothing is known of his military records except that he was a Lieutenant with the London Regiment.

He is commemorated on the St Mary’s Church Ashwell Roll of Honour.

David was born at King Williamstown, Cape Colony, South Africa on 2nd November 1877 to David and Martha Gamble. The 1891 census shows David as a boarder at a school in Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire.  The 1901 census shows him boarding in Camborne where he was a student at the Camborne School of Mines.  He returned to South Africa after completing his studies. 

He married Margaret Zeederberg at Pretoria, South Africa on 18th November 1905.  They moved to England almost immediately where their son, David Frederick Minors (or Frederick David Minors) was born at Tonbridge, Kent in the 4th quarter 1906.

The 1911 census shows David living in Hampstead, London but was out of work.  He shortly moved to Ashwell, Hertfordshire as there are records of him living at Ringstead Farm, in Ashwell from 1912 to 1914. 

David was active in the cricket clubs and as reported in the Royston Crow ‘Mr Gamble’s v Mr EA Moss’s 12 (capt v vice capt). Each side made 65 runs.’

By 1934 he was living in London and died at Chigwell Row, Essex on 10th December 1950.
