Francis Henry (Harry) enlisted with the Royal Flying Corps on 26th January 1916, Regimental Number 19369, as a Driver (Motor Transport). He saw active service on the Western Front, France and Flanders from 7th December 1916 to 18th March 1919. He transferred to the Royal Air Force as 2nd Air Mechanic with the 57th Squadron, same Regimental Number, on 1st April 1918. Harry survived the War but it is not known when he died.
Harry was awarded the British War Medal and the Victory Medal.
He is commemorated on the St Mary’s Church Ashwell Roll of Honour.

Harry was the third son of William and Louisa (nee Flitton Marriott) Wilkerson born at Royston in the 2nd quarter 1897.
Harry married Sarah Florence Amtman in the 2nd quarter 1902 at West Ham, Essex. He did not come to Ashwell until about 1905 where his daughter, Winifred Ruby, was born on 19th February 1907. Before enlisting he was a coachman.
It is not known when Harry died.
