Jaskarn his wife Gurdial (Gill), his father, brother and sister-in-law Jas and Pam and sister Rapinda took over the running of Ashwell Stores as lease holders, Roy, Jackie and family remained in Parade House.
Jaskarn and Gill purchased the shop “Cherry’s” next door which also provided them with living accommodation above. Dick Cherry had ran a coal business while his wife ran the shop. The Gills initially knocked the shop through with Ashwell Stores but found that this did not attract enough extra business so they separated the shops again whilst remaining in the flat above.
The corner shop has since been various businesses:
