Lawrence enlisted with the Hertfordshire Territorial Regiment, Regimental Number 5554, in September 1915.  No military history is known but during the War Lawrence transferred to the Labour Corps, Regimental Number 536352.  He survived the war and died at Steeple Morden on 11th June 1991.

Lawrence was awarded the British War Medal and the Victory Medal.

Lawrence also served in WW2 but no history is known.

He is commemorated on the St Mary’s Church Ashwell Roll of Honour.

Lawrence (Lol) was the fourth son of William Waldock Pack and Annie Maria (nee Berry) Pack, born in the 1st quarter 1898 at Ashwell, Hertfordshire.  He was a pupil at the Merchant Taylors School in Ashwell.  Lawrence ran a small farm based at Greith House in High St, Ashwell. He was a very keen sportsman in his younger days and was an active member of the Ashwell cricket team.

Lawrence married Frances Mary Christy in the 1st quarter 1928. It is not known if they had children.

Lawrence died at Steeple Morden on 11th June 1991.

Lawrence’s brother Frederick served with the Canadian Expeditionary Forces and survived the War. His brother Stanley served with the Royal Engineers and survived the War.
