William A Appleton
Townsend House (previously Prospect House? )
W A Appleton seems to have many connections with Ashwell and the museum.
He was a CBE and JP.
He was a trustee of the museum from its foundation in 1930 until 1941.
The Museum has a book written by him in 1921 when he was Secretary of the General Federation of Trade unions titled: ‘What we want and where we are’
He lived at Prospect House, Townsend, which is believed to be Townsend House

Bill Appleton (son of W.H.Appleton) was my closest childhood friend and I spent many happy hours with him at Townsend House. Bill inspired me to become a RAF pilot as he served as a Spitfire pilot during the World War II. W.H.Appleton was a character of some strength and I was really quite scared of him! He taught me to appreciate roses and good wine.
